Identify - Camillo di Cavour Giuseppe Garibaldi Red Shirts Otto von Bismarck For each of these inidividuals (or group of people, i.e. the Red Shirts), explain: a) country and/or region of origin b) political philosophy c) goals d) outcomes ** 2. Explain (thoroughly) "realpolitik." What is it? who promoted it? why? ** 3. Analyzing issues: Look at the quotation from Bismarck's "blood and iron" speech. How would you say his approach settling political issues differed from the approack of liberals? --> think about ^ the goals of the liberals; ^ the meaning of the phrase "blood and iron"; ^ Bismarck's goals and how he attained them. ** 4. Analyzing Themes: Revolution: How might Cavour and Garibaldi criticized each other as contributors to Italian unity? --> Think about ^ the personalities of the two men ^ methods used by Cavour and Garibaldi to win Italian unity. |
